The Producer’s Loft Studio is a well-known video and podcast studio in San Francisco’s Mission District, in continuous operation for over two decades.

Despite its strong offline industry reputation as the experts in video and film production, the studio’s website was not competing online—especially for high-intent local search terms such as “video production san francisco” and the rapidly growing “podcast production” category.

The recent shift in market demand toward podcasting, livestreaming, and hybrid production work made these gaps more urgent.

At the same time, the landscape of search marketing itself has changed.

Users aren’t only searching on Google; they’re increasingly discovering businesses through AI models like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews. The studio wanted to be visible in both traditional search and AI-driven search environments.

Challenges

  • Weak Local SEO Foundation: The site lacked optimisation for core local search queries, especially for competitive terms related to video production—this limited its visibility in a crowded SF production market.

  • Missing Content for Growing Services: The studio offers full podcast production and studio rental services, yet the site had no content at all targeting podcast-related keywords. The business was losing traffic—and potential bookings—to competitors who had established pages.

  • No AI Search Visibility: The client wanted to appear in ChatGPT search results and Google’s AI Overviews. The site, however, had no structured content aligned with how AI models surface and synthesise local business information.

  • Technical SEO Gaps: Several technical issues limited crawlability and discoverability, restricting the site’s ability to rank even when the content was relevant.

Our Solution

  • Keyword research across four core service areas: we mapped high-intent keywords for these services, resulting in a new SEO strategy that reshaped the site’s information architecture and navigation menu.

  • Technical SEO fixes: We addressed structural issues that were slowing download speeds and suppressing rankings, including: crawl paths, indexation gaps, page performance issues, missing or weak metadata, and internal linking improvements.

  • AI SEO Optimization: To support visibility in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, we:

    • Re-authored key service descriptions for clarity and factual precision

    • Strengthened signals around location, service credibility, and expertise

    • Structured content so AI systems can extract concise, authoritative summaries

    • Improved schema markup to better represent service areas and studio features

  • New content for “podcast studio” cluster. We built a new Podcast Studio Landing Page and supporting content to target podcast-related keywords. This was built to:
